Last week, I had the chance to attend and co-host the #ClarksMashup big reveal. The anticipation for this event has been making a lot of buzz on social media over the last couple of months and here’s why. Clarks had a cool ideato bring together creatives from all over Toronto to create art installations, embracing both old school craftsmanship and new world technology. This concept was inspired by the brands’ Trigenic line of shoes, which embraces the same mantra.
Over the last couple of months, each group of creatives has been working to find ways to bridge the gap and create something cool to present at the reveal. Fast forward to last week and here we are. A group of media and industry professionals met on Queen Street West at a boutique called, Gravity Pope. After being decked out in different colours of Trigenics, we were off on the Clarks Mashup Crawl! At each stop, the group was introduced to the artists followed by a brief description of the story behind their installation.
My group was the second stop on the crawl and oh boy, did they ever do a great job (not that I was surprised)! Shaz, Amir & Simon found a way to illustrate the best of both worlds with their installation. Embracing Shaz’s woodworking skills to create something tangible, while integrating Amir and Simon’s ability to manipulate light to create a show around it. The audience was definitely impressed by their work along with the other two groups.
We ended the night off back at Gravity Pope where the ‘Mashup’ theme continued with options of infused cocktails, music and great conversations! All in all, I would have to say the night was a success!
It was great to see an influential brand like Clarks push an initiative like this! The concept was something creative and out of the box – which is what truly attracted me to this project! It was a pleasure being a part of this experience and allowed me to meet some really cool people and learn a thing or two. To learn more about Clarks and their Trigenic line you should click here!
It’s been a while since I’ve shared something really personal on my blog, so bare with me on this post. For the last little while, I’ve been struggling with the direction my life has been going in. I’ve had some pretty rough days that only a few of my close friends have witnessed. It’s like every time I take 1 step forward, I’m pushed 5 steps backwards. I’m a gemini so I know that I feel things a lot deeper than most people, I always say that my high’s are the highest and my low’s are the lowest – no lie! I’ve been doing a lot of soul searching, trying to figure out where these negative feelings stem from and how to correct them. I’m convinced that the universe is trying to send me a message that for some reason isn’t clear to me or that I subconsciously don’t want to hear. Either way, my patience is definitely being tested… which is also something I’m trying to work on.
The reason why I’ve decided to share a little bit about what I’ve been going through is solely because I feel like someone else might be going through something similar! I know how difficult it can be to go through things and if I can help someone feel less alone by sharing my personal journey, I’m more than happy to. I feel like every one is put on this earth with a purpose at hand. I’ve always felt that my purpose in some way was to experience things and share it with the world. There’s actually even a quote that I heard when I was a kid that stuck with me “Knowing everything won’t do you any good, unless you use it to put beauty into this world”. Although I’m currently in the middle of figuring out my own situation, I do have a few things that I’d suggest to anyone feeling down to try out.
1. As difficult as it may be you have to try and stay positive. Positivity attracts positivity, so even if it’s small things in your life that are going well, use those to lift yourself out of your funk. 2. Take as much time to yourself as you need. It’s important to acknowledge what you’re feeling and to figure out why it is that you feel that way. 3. Remember, this too shall pass! It’s so important to remember that nothing last forever and in time, everything gets better! It’s probably not the first time you’ve felt this way and probably won’t be the last. It’s merely growing pains and this life lesson will make the next chapter of your life feel that much better!
This past weekend I got the chance to have some much needed fun and do something that I’ve never done before… attend a music festival. I know, isn’t it crazy that I’ve never been to one before? My friends over at Express extended the invitation to attend VELD Music Festival and without hesitation I was up for giving it a try and I’m glad that I did! I brought my friends Shayna and Allison to experience it with me and we had so much fun – highlights Steve Aoki& Post Malone! Keep scrolling to see some more pics and find out what I decided to wear!
If there’s one thing torontonians don’t take for granted, it’s summer! Whether it’s soaking up the sun by a pool, running along Lakeshore or hanging out on a patio, trust me we’re all over it! The other day, my friend Jaime and I met up for lunch to catch up on life and decided to check out Colette Grand Café. Colette’s been a go-to for me for a while now and honestly, I can’t see it changing anytime soon! I’ve been obsessed with sea food recently (more than usual) so oysters were a must along with the Poulet Á La Créole & a few cocktails. Check out some images I snapped below of our hang out! Thanks Colette as always for the great hospitality!
Apparently I can’t get enough of the french language in my life. Fresh off my return from Paris, last week I hopped on a plane to Montreal, Quebec for a futuristic soirée titled, #ALTcourt. #ALTcourt (Alternative Court) was the kick-off party for the Rogers Cup produced by National Bank. It was an edgy, yet trendy party celebrating both fashion and lifestyle. Being that the Rogers Cup takes place in both Toronto and Montreal, the National Bank team flew out 12 Toronto influencers to get the full #ALTcourt experience! Great music, beautiful people, dope art installations and curated cocktails equals, a great night! If you were following along on my Snapchat (CC.Christian), you got to see IRL (In Real Time) how much fun the evening was. If not, no worries – check out the photos & video below to get a glimpse into the fun-filled evening!
One of the main things that I love about having my blog is the ability to look back at some of the milestones or experiences that I’ve had in life thus far. As I’m sure you guys have noticed, I take a more personal approach to the content that I create – treating each blog post more of like an online journal entry. Coming close to the end of my content from Paris, I wanted to share with you guys something that I’ve been practising for quite some time now when it comes to how I live my life.
If there’s anything that I’ve learned over the last few years, is that nothing in life is guaranteed. 5 years ago, I was a recent college graduate, fell in love for the first time and had a clear picture of what my future would look like both personally and professionally. As the years went by, the same “clear picture” of my what future would look like became less clear, until it wasn’t visible at all. I wasn’t doing anything with my education, I broke up with my first love, and I felt lost in every way possible.
*** side note *** I’m a gemini so I feel things more than most people. My highs are the highest and my lows are the lowest (trust me… I wish I was being dramatic).
Fast forward to the present day, I use the knowledge that I learned from college regularly, I get to do what I love on a daily basis and have found a more positive perspective on life than I ever thought possible… how? – Gratitude!
Gratitude -the quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness.
Instead of focusing on the negatives that were happening in my life, I started honing in on the positives. Every morning I would wake up and say out loud 5 things that I was thankful for (health, a roof over my head, new underwear, 5 extra minutes of sleep – you name it. It suddenly made me more appreciative of everything that I had in my life, which helped me attract even more! One of my best friends/photographer Shayna and I were having a heart to heart, on one of our last nights in Paris. At one point we looked at each other and said damn, we’re having a moment, while drinking wine on a terrace in Paris – the universe is good! We’re both not necessarily where we want to be in life, and life might not be what we initially pictured it to be but we’re on the right path and for that, we’re thankful! I truly believe that acknowledging the blessings that come into your life (big or small) and being optimistic in unfavourable situations will always lead you to a brighter outcome!
Thank you guys for reading – this was a long one for me!
Two weeks ago, I had the pleasure of collaborating on a cool men’s training initiative with Adidas Canada. If you’ve been following my blog for a while you already know how much of an integral role fitness plays in my lifestyle. I’m very competitive when it comes to sports and working out (blame it on the countless years of running track and playing football) – so when it comes to the type of workout gear that I wear, I want it to be the best. Recently, I was introduced to a new pair of men’s training shoes by Adidas called the Pure Boost ZG‘s and I’m not going to lie, they’re pretty bad ass! They’ve got just the right amount of boost technology to keep you feeling light on your feet and stable enough to react to quick movements.
I invited a few of my boys to come out and put these kicks to the test during a high intensity training session. My personal trainer, Adam Reynolds and co-founder of Catalyst Health curated a crazy circuit for us to complete including the use of weights, medicine balls, rowing machines, Airdyne bikes, Woodway treadmills & much more! To say that this training session was a tough one is an understatement but at the end of it we were all happy that we pushed through it! In regards to the apparel and footwear, they held up to the hype that I shared with the guys before the session. To see more of what went down during the bootcamp, my team put together a little video for you to take a look at below!
Last month, I had the pleasure of hosting a cocktail party for Armani Exchange! There’s nothing that I love more than a crisp glass of bubbly, fashion, music and good company. I love collaborating with cool brands that are always trying to keep things fresh and stay ahead of the game. Armani Exchange‘s latest collection definitely showcases those attributes and has something for even the most pickiest fashion enthusiast to fall in love with. I wanted to find an outfit that was a happy medium between dressing up and being super casual, which is what I think overall is the vibe of the brand. I opted for a pair of slim fit denim, a navy blazer and a floral sweater, which I absolutely fell in love with! The Christian Confidential team was all over this event and made a little video for you to get a glimpse into what went down that evening – check it out below!
Thank you to everyone that came out and helped us celebrate the brands latest collection!
It’s been a little while since I’ve last posted, please forgive me! It’s all been for good reasons though, I’ve got a lot of cool projects coming up that I’m very excited to share with you guys, I just want it to be perfect when I do. That being said, let’s get to the topic at hand of this blog post… don’t settle. This is something that we hear very often but let’s be honest it’s a lot easier said than done, especially in the realm of love!
