Note To Self: Don’t Settle

Processed with VSCO with hb1 presetIt’s been a little while since I’ve last posted, please forgive me! It’s all been for good reasons though, I’ve got a lot of cool projects coming up that I’m very excited to share with you guys, I just want it to be perfect when I do. That being said, let’s get to the topic at hand of this blog post… don’t settle. This is something that we hear very often but let’s be honest it’s a lot easier said than done, especially in the realm of love!

I’ve been single now for a little over two years and let’s just say the dating game has changed… drastically. Some may say for the better and some may say for the worse – I’m personally not the biggest fan. The apps, the dating sites, I just can’t commit to them. I’m a hopeless romantic, I love the idea of being able to tell a cool story about how me and my partner met and telling people that we met on tinder is  definitely not my definition of romantic. I’ve had a tinder profile before, it was not LIT but I do have friends that have had success on it, it just depends on the person, I guess… Processed with VSCO with hb1 preset

That being said, I also know people that are in relationships just for the sake of being in a relationship. They’re tired of dating, they’re comfortable and their situation ‘makes sense’. To me, that isn’t the love that you’ve been searching for, that’s settling and I don’t think it’s worth it! Imagine over hearing your partner say those things about your relationship, I wouldn’t be okay with that. You’re time is valuable, your life is precious, don’t waste it being in a relationship that you’re just ‘okay’ with.

I’ve been single and dating periodically and out of all of the ‘potentials’ – only one has ever truly made me think about pursuing something long-term. The point of this post is to give you guys and myself a little reminder that finding the one, or someone worth investing your time in sometimes requires patience. Don’t get discouraged or throw in the towel for something you know deep down is  mediocre because when you find that special someone and you build on that connection, you’ll see that the wait was all worth it in the end!
