Through The Lens Of My iPhone X : New York Fashion Week Men’s

Fresh off my return from Men’s Week in New York, I’ve put together my latest photo diary for you guys! This trip to New York was like no other, filled with magical moments, a constant high and energy rush that words can’t describe. From presentations to runway shows, to meetings at the Empire State building to random nights out, I literally got a taste of everything except time to relax (but who needs that?!) haha!

The week before heading to New York I got my hands on the latest iPhone X and I decided to wait until my trip to truly test it out! I heard great things about the X but I didn’t realize how much of a beast it was, until using it. It took a minute for me to adjust to the new system (taking screenshots is different on the X haha) but after I got the hang of it, I was more than good to go! My favourite thing about the X… the camera (obviously)!

The camera on this phone literally made this work trip so much easier for me. When you’re attending fashion week events, everything happens so quickly and as a blogger you’re trying to see and capture EVERYTHING! Usually, I find myself  switching between 3 devices to capture the best content –  which can be stressful. This time around, I was able to solely use the iPhone X during  shows and presentations.

Instead of telling you guys all about it, I’d rather show you. Every photo in this blog post was both shot and edited using only my iPhone X and the apps I have on it – isn’t that crazy?

If you love blurred backgrounds in your street style photos, you can create that effect easily in portrait mode and can also create that effect with the front camera too (elevate your selfie game)!

These images are highlights from some of my favourite moments during Men’s Week. From hanging out at the LAB SERIES lounge at Men’s Day to getting a tour of the Sean John showroom, to lunch at Freds, to cocktails at the King Cole Bar to working on an exclusive project with Perry Ellis (more on this to come) see it all below!

WMC Fashion Week A/W 2014 | Recap

RideInStylexCadillac | Christian Confidential

This is definitely an exciting time for Toronto’s fashion scene – in every way things seem to be getting bigger & brighter!  With the excitement of World Mastercard Fashion Week behind us I want to take a minute & quickly recap some of the week’s highlights & talk about what we have to look forward to going into Fall/Winter 2014.

RideInStylexCadillac | Christian ConfidentialThe Mackage & HD Homme collections were definite show-stoppers, as was Ken Chow’s work for Krane Designs (which I had the pleasure of walking in!).  This group of Canadian designers has me planning my F/W 2014 wardrobe well in advance with a heavy emphasis on mixed materials & especially suede – in both blazer & jacket form, HD Homme made a splash with this luxe material.  While we’ve come to expect refined, military-inspired pieces from Ken Chow, his collections always impress with an urbane masculinity that I’m completely obsessed with.

Of course it’s just as much about what happens after the shows as what happens in them and the after parties this year did not disappoint.  The week kicked off with an opening party at the Thompson Hotel hosted by Spiro Mandylor & featuring Vawk, but Toronto hotspots Lee, Everleigh & the Soho House played host to industry events all week long.  Friday night’s after-party at the Templar Hotel hosted by Jay Strut & Tony Pham was definitely a highlight!

Nothing beats the backstage experience – the energy & adrenaline is contagious, as is the passion & determination.  So much goes into a runway show that the audience never experiences & all together it makes for an amazing atmosphere.  You also never know who you’ll run into, and I’ll never complain for getting to rub elbows with the likes of Coco Rocha, Shenae grimes & Lisa Tant.  It’s company that I could get used to!

Of course I have to mention Cadillac, whose generosity had Sasha Exeter & me riding in style all week long.  It looks & feels like a luxury car, and while I’m no expert it definitely was something to look forward to each day.  The car basically drives itself & sounds amazing – who could ask for anything else.
