Lack of Communication

@christianconfidential

So it’s been a while since I’ve last posted on the blog and I feel like I owe you guys an explanation. The last couple of months have been very interesting to say the least and I needed some time to really reflect on what I’ve been feeling and what’s going to be my next move. I don’t necessarily have the answer as of yet but I feel like I’m in a better place to pick up where I left off. I’ll go into further details about this in another blog post but I just wanted to let you guys know that I didn’t forget about you and that I’m working on a few things personally and professionally that I’ll be sharing with you guys soon!

Something that I’m excited about, is a feature that I shot with Urban Outfitters earlier this week that will be coming out in July on their social channels and website! This is a look that I styled for them that I’m totally feeling right now. I’d like to think that this look is a mash up of retro + island vibes. It’s a dope look that I would wear on a cooler (weather wise) summer day with friends either checking out Kensington Market or heading to a backyard party.

Street Style Guide Pt.2

Processed with VSCOcam with hb1 presetProcessed with VSCOcam with hb1 presetAs promised, we’re back this week with part two of our ‘Street Style’ guide! The thing that I love about street style and fashion in general is that it’s totally your choice of how creative or simple you want to be with it. I always tell my boys that finding a happy medium within those two ends of the spectrum is the best way to go.

TIP: Don’t be afraid to go against the grain. Fashion is all about having fun and expressing yourself! Try on those fitted denim, rock those all black overalls! At the end of the day, you’ll know if it works for you or not. Processed with VSCOcam with hb1 presetProcessed with VSCOcam with hb1 preset
As I mentioned in part 1 street style is all about swag, and finding your own way of rocking an outfit is the fun part about it.
TIP: An easy way of bringing more depth into your outfit is by layering. Yes, layering, it’s not only for your preppy inspired looks anymore. Look at Kanye West, one of my favourite street style guys, you’ll very rarely find him wearing only one tee or crewneck.  Try experimenting with different lengths and fabrics when putting your outfits together. For example; I styled Daniel with a simple denim button up and complimented it with a long line tee underneath. image1
When in doubt dress from the bottom up. I don’t know if a lot of people do this or it’s just me because of my love of sneakers but I tend to find it easier. Knowing the type of kicks that you want to wear and building your outfit around them is a trick that I like to use a lot.
TIP: Slender kicks are your best friends when it comes to skinny jeans and hi-tops are your best friends when it comes to joggers. If you’re on a budget grab yourself a pair of black and white  Hi-Tops! They pair well with the style of bottoms above, super versatile and the more you wear them, the more character they have. Processed with VSCOcam with hb1 presetPhotography by: Shayna Desir for ChristianConfidential.comProcessed with VSCOcam with hb1 preset
Thanks for coming back and checking out part two of our ‘Street Style’ guide! Hopefully you guys found the tips informative and got to take a thing or two out of this post. As always, don’t be afraid to drop me a line if you have any questions or comments!

Monochrome Vibes | Style Post

monochrome street vibes | Christian Confidentialmonochrome street vibes | Christian ConfidentialLately, I’ve been embracing more of my edgy side when it comes to new fashion purchases. So, it came as no surprise to me that I would gravitated towards these drawstring shorts from Forever 21. Not only did I have to have them right away, I had to find the perfect tee to compliment them. I decided to pair these shorts with a white Longline muscle tee (that you’ll definitely see repeated) and a pair of black Hi-Tops, giving off total monochrome vibes. This look might not be for everyone but I’m all about being different and trying new things! Remember guys, the key to looking great in clothes, is wearing them with confidence.

Casual Cool for Summer | Style Post

Forever 21 Men | Christian ConfidentialI’ve been building up my wardrobe, slowly but surely for the summer months. I feel like the last few post I’ve written have all had to do with the excitement of summer but if you live in Canada you definitely understand why. – For all my international readers just bare with me. For me, summer is all about having fun and spontaneous adventures, so I tend to pick out outfits that are super versatile, light and can be worn in various settings. I scored these pretty dope cotton twill shorts from Forever 21 and guess how much they were?! Twelve bucks… not bad! I rarely talk about the price of items as I think you should buy things based on if you really like them or not but I liked these shorts and it was kind of a no brainer at that price point. They also come in a couple other colours. I decided to build on this look with a scoop neck tee, a light denim button down and a pair of kicks from Converse.  This outfit is something I’d wear in a casual setting like; going out for drinks on a patio, a road trip or an afternoon in the park with friends.Forever 21 Men | Christian ConfidentialForever 21 Men | Christian ConfidentialForever 21 Men | Christian ConfidentialWhat I’m Wearing

Dreaming of the Hamptons | Style Post

Stripe Shirts + DenimLately I’ve been dreaming more and more about traveling. It’s been a little while since I’ve been away and just had some serious R&R time. A friend and I were doing some research on places to visit in the summer and the Hamptons kept coming up. I started looking at photos and got inspired to put this look together.  Classic, stylish and clean cut seems to be the aesthetic that people tend to follow when getting dressed up in the Hamptons. I opted for a striped oxford shirt, clean wash denim and a pair of chucks to give me the same feel & look. Stripe Shirts + DenimStripe Shirts + DenimStripe Shirts + DenimWhat I’m Wearing

Classics On The Weekend | Style Post

Classics On The WeekendContinuing with the positive vibes that I’ve been on over the last few weeks, I decided to spend some time with one of my best friends over the weekend and explore her neighbourhood. It’s been such a long time since we’ve gone outside without a specific purpose and just took a walk. Before I started blogging, I never really paid much attention to what was in my surroundings and even though now I do it for selfish purposes, in a weird way I’m a better person for it. Areas that I would have never looked at before have some of the best hidden treasures. I guess the point that I’m trying to make is that beauty is everywhere, you just have to be willing to look for it.

Camel Tones & Patchwork Denim | Style Post

Trust Your Journey | Style PostHi guys, I’ve decided to switch things up slightly with this post and focus a little more on life rather than style. The last few weeks for me have been a little frustrating to say the least. I don’t know if it’s just the weather or something in my subconscious that was trying to reveal itself  but something was definitely off. I’m a Gemini so I know that my spirit is very sensitive and can be easily affected by the different types of energy that surrounds me but this time around I just couldn’t shake those negative vibes. I took some time to myself to try and reflect, hence the limited posting action but I’m back and feeling much better! Whenever I’m down I tend to read more and search for inspirational quotes and I always come back to this one idea; trusting your journey. Things are going to happen and you’re going to have rough patches in every area of your life (personal, health, career, finance etc..) but it all happens for a reason. You just have to believe that there’s a lesson to be learned in every misfortune and that those times or events really help shape the person you’re meant to be.

About a month ago I had a feature in IN Magazine where the focus was on sexuality in sports. I was asked to provide  a quote that depicted the best life lesson that I’ve learned so far and I’d like to share it with you guys as well; “Hardships often prepare ordinary people for an extraordinary destiny” – C.S Lewis

Trust Your Journey | Style PostTrust Your Journey | Style PostI’ve held onto that quote for some time now and I recently found another quote that inspired the direction of this style post; Don’t confuse your path with your destination. Just because it’s stormy now doesn’t mean that you aren’t headed for sunshine. To some, this quote might sound juvenile but for me I saw it at the right time and it really resonated with me. Personally, I just felt that I owed you guys an explanation for my disappearance and I also just wanted to share my reaffirmed learnings! I hope your week is off to a great start and that you’re staying warm! #ItsBeenAColdWinter  #SharingIsCaring Outfit details below!

A Valentine’s Day Date Outfit | Style Post

image1

I don’t know about you but I’m the biggest sucker for romance. To me, there’s nothing that compares to the butterflies you get on a first date, the look on your partners face when you arrive with flowers or having a great conversation with that special someone over dinner. That being said, naturally Valentine’s Day has always been a favourite of mine. – So when my friends at Forever 21 asked me to come up with the perfect Valentine’s Day date outfit, I  was totally up for the challenge! I may be season pushing a little bit with my choice but I think I found the perfect outfit for an afternoon Valentine’s Day date. I wanted something a little more dressed up, that was stylish but also versatile incase my date and I end up doing something that wasn’t initially planned. I opted for these olive chino trousers and matching blazer that I paired with a cream crew neck and a pair of Jack Purcell sneakers. I really like this look and I hope that you guys do too! Date Night | Style PostDate Night | Style PostDate Night | Style PostDate Night | Style PostWhat I’m Wearing

Even though I was born and raised in Canada, I’m usually the first one to complain about the cold weather. Not really sure why that is, maybe it’s due to my parents being part Caribbean or that I’m a summer baby but either way it never fails. Except this year.. in Toronto we’ve been pretty lucky, there has been minimal snow and not as cold temperature drops as per usual. – Which has definitely increased the amount of time I spend outdoors :). The other day I shot a few street style looks with blogger and friend Alexander from Alexander Liang.com. I decided to feature my new  flight jacket from Forever 21 along with my new winter sneakers from Converse  which, both happened to be quilted. I love the look, simple, clean and casual just the way I like it!
