Through The Lens Of My iPhone X : New York Fashion Week Men’s

@christianconfidential@christianconfidential

Fresh off my return from Men’s Week in New York, I’ve put together my latest photo diary for you guys! This trip to New York was like no other, filled with magical moments, a constant high and energy rush that words can’t describe. From presentations to runway shows, to meetings at the Empire State building to random nights out, I literally got a taste of everything except time to relax (but who needs that?!) haha!

The week before heading to New York I got my hands on the latest iPhone X and I decided to wait until my trip to truly test it out! I heard great things about the X but I didn’t realize how much of a beast it was, until using it. It took a minute for me to adjust to the new system (taking screenshots is different on the X haha) but after I got the hang of it, I was more than good to go! My favourite thing about the X… the camera (obviously)!

The camera on this phone literally made this work trip so much easier for me. When you’re attending fashion week events, everything happens so quickly and as a blogger you’re trying to see and capture EVERYTHING! Usually, I find myself  switching between 3 devices to capture the best content –  which can be stressful. This time around, I was able to solely use the iPhone X during  shows and presentations.

Instead of telling you guys all about it, I’d rather show you. Every photo in this blog post was both shot and edited using only my iPhone X and the apps I have on it – isn’t that crazy?

If you love blurred backgrounds in your street style photos, you can create that effect easily in portrait mode and can also create that effect with the front camera too (elevate your selfie game)!

These images are highlights from some of my favourite moments during Men’s Week. From hanging out at the LAB SERIES lounge at Men’s Day to getting a tour of the Sean John showroom, to lunch at Freds, to cocktails at the King Cole Bar to working on an exclusive project with Perry Ellis (more on this to come) see it all below!

“The only rule is don’t be boring and dress cute wherever you go. Life is too short to blend in” – Paris Hilton

Usually I don’t find myself agreeing with Paris on anything to be honest but in this case she just may be right. Fashion is an amazing outlet to really share with the world how you’re feeling and in this style post I feel like I can take on anything. I’m not sure if its the shoes.. actually it’s definitely the shoes that have given me that extra confidence boost to pull off this look. There’s just something about a vibrant red that just instantly takes your look to another level. – and in return making it the focal point of your outfit.Throwing in an eye catching colour like red into your outfit can make the world of a difference, for women it can be as easy as applying some red lipstick or rocking a pair of Louboutin’s. – for men a red fitted cap or a pair of sneakers like the Yeezy’s or these new bad boys called ‘The Broadwick’ from Lacoste’s upcoming SS 15 line. I can’t wait to share more with you guys what the brand has in store for next season! The Transition | Christian Confidential The Transition | Christian Confidential The Transition | Christian Confidential The Transition | Christian Confidential

Summer Street Edge | Live In Levi’s

Summer Nights | Christian Confidential

When it comes to fashion there’s two things that I can never get enough of: 1. ripped denim & 2. a good leather jacket. I’ve featured my leather jacket from Diesel a few times before on the blog so you already know how much I love it. – I paired it with these ripped denim shorts from Levi’s that I got at a dope vintage shop & a mesh tank Zara. Those three items along with my leather snapback have been serious staples for my summer wardrobe. I hope I did them justice in this style post that I like to call Summer Street Edge.

Basquiat & leather Joggers | Style Post

Today’s style post is all about the reward that come from taking risk and stepping outside of your comfort zone.  I’ve always loved the leather-jogger look but it also seemed like it could be really hit-or-miss.  Now that I have them on I can’t imagine taking them off!  I paired them with a Basquiat screen-printed T-shirt from Hype Means Nothing, my Diesel Moto Jacket & a pair of red-bottoms… Nike’s latest Team Canada Mid Trainers.  The look feels confident & fresh.  Basquiat | christian confidentialBasquiat | christian confidentialBasquiat | christian confidentialBasquiat | christian confidentialWhat I’m Wearing

WMC Fashion Week A/W 2014 | Recap

RideInStylexCadillac | Christian Confidential

This is definitely an exciting time for Toronto’s fashion scene – in every way things seem to be getting bigger & brighter!  With the excitement of World Mastercard Fashion Week behind us I want to take a minute & quickly recap some of the week’s highlights & talk about what we have to look forward to going into Fall/Winter 2014.

RideInStylexCadillac | Christian ConfidentialThe Mackage & HD Homme collections were definite show-stoppers, as was Ken Chow’s work for Krane Designs (which I had the pleasure of walking in!).  This group of Canadian designers has me planning my F/W 2014 wardrobe well in advance with a heavy emphasis on mixed materials & especially suede – in both blazer & jacket form, HD Homme made a splash with this luxe material.  While we’ve come to expect refined, military-inspired pieces from Ken Chow, his collections always impress with an urbane masculinity that I’m completely obsessed with.

Of course it’s just as much about what happens after the shows as what happens in them and the after parties this year did not disappoint.  The week kicked off with an opening party at the Thompson Hotel hosted by Spiro Mandylor & featuring Vawk, but Toronto hotspots Lee, Everleigh & the Soho House played host to industry events all week long.  Friday night’s after-party at the Templar Hotel hosted by Jay Strut & Tony Pham was definitely a highlight!

Nothing beats the backstage experience – the energy & adrenaline is contagious, as is the passion & determination.  So much goes into a runway show that the audience never experiences & all together it makes for an amazing atmosphere.  You also never know who you’ll run into, and I’ll never complain for getting to rub elbows with the likes of Coco Rocha, Shenae grimes & Lisa Tant.  It’s company that I could get used to!

Of course I have to mention Cadillac, whose generosity had Sasha Exeter & me riding in style all week long.  It looks & feels like a luxury car, and while I’m no expert it definitely was something to look forward to each day.  The car basically drives itself & sounds amazing – who could ask for anything else.

The Moto Jacket | Christian ConfidentialLast summer I did a test shoot for Diesel Canada in this beautiful moto jacket & had been craving it ever since.  It’s soft, supple & has become a mild obsession.  Needless to say, it wound its way into my closet and has started to take over my Instagram account.  The fitted cut, ribbed shoulder detailing & eye-catching, chromed zippers make this jacket a definite conversation starter.  Dressed up or down, it’s always a win.
