Toronto Home Tour Pt. 1

Christian Confidential Well guys… I think I’m officially becoming an adult. It’s taken a long time to get here but I think I’m slowly morphing into one. I came to this conclusion after moving back to Toronto and noticing how  picky I was when it came to deciding on how I’d like to decorate my new space. Honestly, beforehand I never really gave interior decorating much attention, as long as my home was modern, clean and minimal, I was cool with it.

This time around, I really wanted my space to reflect my personality, my interests and my distinguished style. It took me a while to really figure out what I wanted but two months later, I’m finally content with the overall vibe and aesthetic of the living room.

The words that I would use to describe the space are; minimal, clean, light, cozy, feminine, masculine, hints of luxury, fashion forward, and thought out.

I really wanted to create a space that I would be comfortable in, that would really showcase who I am and was welcoming. The first thing that I purchased was a floor length mirror. I knew that I didn’t want  to have a tv in the living room and would much rather prefer a statement wall that would include a full length mirror (which helps in making the space seem larger) and accent table (Terrace Side Table from West Elm)  that would house some of my favourite items.

Christian ConfidentialChristian ConfidentialYves Saint Laurent Christian ConfidentialThe second thing I purchased, which took the longest to both decide on and have delivered, was my couch. I wrestled between getting a light or dark coloured couch FOREVER! Ideally, if I wasn’t accident prone I would’ve opted for a lighter colour but knowing how I am, I thought getting a darker colour, would be more practical. I ended up getting this  couch from Structube and ultimately, I’m happy with my decision.

Once I finalized the couch and creating the statement wall featuring the mirror, everything else came together rather easily. I’m not afraid of mixing  gold with silver so choosing the gold accent table that I opted for and putting it beside the mirror (which, I purchased from Ikea)made sense to me, aesthetically.

I decided to get a clear/glass coffee table to provide the illusion of more space, which I also think compliments the floor length mirror’s silver finishing. Christian ConfidentialWhat’s left? The carpet, accessories and art work. In regards to the carpet, I wanted something light in colour and felt good under the feet. Truthfully, I like this carpet but I’m also open to a carpet with more of a  silky/shine finish and may end up changing it later on.

In terms of accessories, which was probably my favourite stuff to pick out, I got a lot of them from H&M Home.  Naturally, being a fan of the brand for their diverse men’s offering, I was excited to see what they had in store for their home collection. From the cushions on the couch, to the decorations on the coffee table and candles and vases on the accent table – I was able to select them all from H&M!

Last but not least, the artwork on the wall. Sigh, they’re both from an artist that goes by the name Peytil who’s located in Sweden. I originally got these two prints for my flat in London and I just couldn’t leave them behind. I am beyond in love with them and in so many ways, I feel like they totally reflect my personality and complete the space. If you’re looking for something some art work to spice up your space, I’d recommend checking out his site as he has so many great options. The two that I got are titled; Matador and Jules – I also have my eyes on The Gemini print as well and he ships worldwide.

I hope that you guys like this post as much as I enjoyed putting my living room together! I’ll be back once, I’ve completed the whole space with a home tour – probably via Youtube though! Stay tuned for some fall fashion content coming soon and scroll down for more pics!

Retro Style with Simons

@christianconfidentialI know, I know… M-I-A much?!?! Honestly, I don’t even have a good excuse to explain why I haven’t been on my blog as much as I should be but please don’t hate me! It’s crazy because I’ve been pretty busy this summer working on projects but most of it has been living solely on social media @christianconfidential.

That being said, I definitely need to show more love to you guys and keep my site updated on the regular. These images are from a recent project I did  for Simons, in efforts to promote a new younger line that they’re pushing called, DJAAB. I would describe this collection as an ode to retro street style with a modern twist to it. If you’re into oversized fits, vibrant colours and comfort this line definitely has something for you.

These were my favourite images and looks that I put together featuring pieces from their collection – Also check out the video that my team and I shot for it here!

Wear Canadian – CAFA Awards

@christianconfidential  Last Friday, I had the opportunity to attend one of the biggest celebrations in the arts & fashion industry in Canada. The CAFA awards are in their 6th year of highlighting different areas of the industry and this years celebration was the best one yet.

I had the opportunity of attending the awards ceremony dinner and afterparty with the Simons team. Since I was a little boy, I’ve always equated my family trips to Montreal with a visit or two to Simons. In the last few years, I’ve developed a closer relationship to the brand through attending press previews and store openings in Toronto. On every occasion the team has always been so welcoming of me, so to be invited to attend this year’s show with them was a great experience!

I’m not the biggest fan of dressing up on my day to day but for special occasions, I do love to switch things up! I wanted to wear something fashion forward, that made a statement and represented the kind of talent that resides in Canada. I opted to wear this look, from the talented designer Ross Mayer of Mayer Man.

This look is an ode to the past, the present and the future. The classic mixed material bomber is a statement piece and I wanted it to stay that way. I opted to accessorize with pieces that would compliment the bomber and elevate the look like, the cashmere turtleneck, the beret and footwear. I chose these pants, as they were classic yet different with the incorporation of the fringe detailing.

Beret’s are such a hot trend at the moment and I’m in love with the fact that people are embracing it but I chose to incorporate it into my look for its history. I took inspiration from it being a statement piece in the Black Panther movement.

I’m in love with this look and for everything that it stand for so I hope that you guys like it as well. Thank you to the CAFA’s for continuing to support Canadian talent, Simons for the invitation and Mayer Man for helping me put this look together!

Best,
Christian
