21 Days In Miami

@christianconfidential

Can you believe that it’s the new year already? Like it’s nut! I feel like 2017 came and went by so quickly if it wasn’t for me capturing moments for my blog I don’t think I would’ve been able to remember everything that went down.

That being said, at the end of November my cousin shared a quote that stuck in my head for the rest of the year. “May this last month of 2017 be the plot twist you’ve been waiting for.” and let me tell you that it was!

At the beginning of December my friends and I decided to do a last minute jaunt to Miami for Art Basel. When I say last minute, I mean, L-A-S-T  M-I-N-U-T-E! We literally booked our flights and accommodations the night before, it was so crazy. If you know me, then you know I’m much more of a planner, so this trip was already starting out a lot different.

The plan was to arrive on thursday and leave on sunday. We were all having so much fun, checking out the art installations, having lunches at Soho Beach House, dinners at Komodo and Nusr-Et and partaking in the Miami nightlife (we left E11even on the friday night at 8:30 am to give you guys an idea of how fun it was haha).
@christianconfidential@christianconfidential@christianconfidential

When the sunday came around, I was nowhere close to being ready to go back home. Toronto just got their first snow fall and the temperature was plummeting well below zero. My friend Jay and I decided to stay for a few weeks longer and complete the rest of our work for the year in Miami. Honestly, it was the best decision I’ve made in a long time! Everyday I woke up early, got a workout in (Equinox South Beach) then grabbed my laptop and got to work while laying out on the beach in 26+ degree weather!

This was the first time that I wasn’t surrounded by snow for Christmas and to be honest, I wasn’t mad about it! In Miami, they’re very festive with their decorations and you’re still able to feel the Christmas vibe.

I also took this time to really reflect on the direction that my life is going in and what I need to do in the New Year to reach higher heights.

All in all, this was a great experience that I’m really glad that I got the chance to experience and as usual I took a couple pics (maybe more than usual) for you guys to check out!

Believe it or not but I actually shot all of my content with my iPhone 7! I’ve had this phone for about a year now and I’m still blown away by the great quality that it captures. It gets me amped to test out the new iPhone 8plus and the X!  #ShotOnIphone

I hope that 2018 is off to a great start for all of you and that you push through with your resolutions as hard as some of them may be! Remember, you’ve only got one life to life, so whatever it is that you want out of it, go for it and never settle!

The Best Gift For A Best Friend

@christianconfidential

The holiday season is officially in full swing which means the countdown to picking up something special for your loved ones is on. For me, I take shopping for presents very seriously. I always try to find ways to not only give my friends gifts that they want but that also puts a huge smile on their faces. This year I’ve teamed up with Best Buy Canada to find the best gift for one of  my best friends, Shayna.

Shayna and I have been friends for as long as I can remember and have shared many memories together. This year I wanted to get her a gift that she’d not only love but something that also highlighted significant moments in our friendship. After spending some time in Best Buy, I came across this cool portable photo printer called the HP Sprocket, that I knew she’d love!

@christianconfidential

The HP Sprocket is a portable photo printer that’s super easy to use, prints images and stickers instantly and has a clean minimal design. It’s also super light in weight and allows you to print via bluetooth directly from your iPhone.

One of the things that Shayna and I love to do together is travel.  I decided to print a bunch of our favourite photos from our past trips (New York, Miami, West Palm Beach, Paris) and create a photo album for her to have with the Sprocket.

@christianconfidential

The thing that I love about Best Buy , especially when it comes to holiday shopping is that you can go in looking to find a gift for one person and end up leaving with something for everyone on your list (like the new Fitbit Ionic Watch for your athletic friend)!  Best Buy makes it super easy by having knowledgeable staff in each department and carrying a wide variety of electronics and premium tech gadgets!

If you’ve still got a few people to check off your list, I’d suggest making  a stop at your local Best Buy store or even better you can shop online here.

Good luck guys and happy holidays!

Christian

PS. look out for a little contest on my Instagram account for chance to win a $100 gift card to Best Buy launching this weekend!

Twenty-Something

@christianconfidential

So… It’s officially been about a week since my birthday and let’s just say that I’m still thinking about how much fun it was. Every year I usually throw a big dinner or have a party of some sort but this year I wanted to do something different. I wanted to do something low-key with a small group of people and just kind of go with the flow.  A few of my friends (Shayna, Jay and Vanessa) and I have been talking about how much fun it would be if we all went to Miami together one day, which spawned the idea of this birthday trip. We overpacked our carry-ons with swimsuits, workout gear and party outfits and hopped on an early morning flight to meet our good friends from New York in Miami for an unforgettable couple of days.

@christianconfidential@christianconfidentialIt’s crazy what great company, a beach, some champagne and good music can do for the soul. From start to finish, there was never a dull moment. The highlight moment for me on this trip had to be my birthday dinner at Zuma. The food was amazing, the service was great and the conversations left me feeling inspired and grateful. We spoke about personal goals, life, what we’re thankful for and what we’re looking to accomplish within the next year. Everyone was honest and so supportive of one another and to me that’s the beauty of life and great relationships.

This was one of those trips that I’ll always look back on and cherish the memories that were created. The universe works in the most craziest of ways. A week before I left on this trip, I was fighting a lot of anxiety. I felt like no matter what I was doing, I wasn’t getting ahead in certain areas of my life. Fast forward to the end of this trip, I left with a total different perspective, a more positive outlook and feeling extremely blessed and grateful. I know that I have work to do in order to accomplish what I want to do in life and I think that this year will be all about change and advancement. It’s not going to be easy, I know that there will be uncomfortable moments but I’m ready to take the plunge and see what’s out there for me!

I want to say a huge thank you to everyone that sent there wishes on or around my birthday – it truly does mean a lot! Thank you to my friends that made this trip what it was, thank you for just being you and allowing me to be the crazy person that I am haha!

As always, I snapped some photos along the way. I hope you guys enjoy these travel post, I’ll be back with some style post later this week!

Miami Photo Diary

christian thompson | christian confidential Hi guys, as promised, here’s my latest photo diary from Miami. After Paris, I think that Miami is my most frequently visited destination and I don’t feel bad about it. Whether I’m looking to have a wild time with friends or a quiet trip alone, it never disappoints! This trip was all about taking in as much warm weather as possible (it’s about to get REALLY cold in Toronto) and getting some much needed rest (there’s nothing better  than falling asleep on a beach). We kept it pretty low key and did a couple nice dinners (Cecconi’s is always a must visit), some time on the beach and a lot of bubbly. See below for a few of my favourite photos that I snapped along the way!

Mornings In Miami

christian thompson | christian confidentialHi guys, I meant to put this post up when I was in Miami but… I got a little caught up relaxing and taking in the sun. It’s been getting colder and colder in Toronto and my best friend and I felt that it was time to take a trip to one of our favourite destinations, Miami. We stayed at the Loews hotel in South Beach, which we loved and had a pretty dope view from our suite. I’ll  be back soon with a photo diary, so stay tuned!

On A Beautiful Twisted Journey…

Processed with VSCO with hb1 presetProcessed with VSCO with hb1 presetI’m on a beautiful twisted journey, that I have no control of xx – That’s a recent quote that I posted on social media that really resonates with me in regards to how I feel about life right now. Over the last few months, consciously and subconsciously I’ve been doing a lot of self discovery and soul searching. I’ve been exploring  different ways to create a deeper connection with the universe, myself, and those closest to me. It’s been interesting, frustrating, exciting and intimidating all at the same time. Last week I decided that I needed to get out of the city for a few days and just have some quality time to myself. I chose Miami, Florida as my destination… it’s close by, it’s familiar and for me there’s nothing more calming than the beach and warm weather. The time away was exactly what I needed, from the moment I arrived to my last evening in the sunshine state, the universe continuously sent me signs that strengthened my recent discoveries. It was a magical experience that I can’t even properly describe with words and maybe that’s just how it’s supposed to be. I don’t want to get too much into details about my discoveries as of yet but incase you guys are going through something similar I’d encourage you guys to explore those feelings. Don’t brush them off and think things will just get better, those feelings will come back and it’s the universe’s way of telling you to dig deeper, usually within yourself. Ask yourself questions like what makes you happy, what makes you feel fulfilled, what are you passionate about, are you pursuing your purpose? Be prepared to answer those questions honestly and to explore why you’ve come to those conclusions. On a side note, one thing  that I do want to share is that if you can, try traveling alone. I almost forgot how liberating and powerful it can be. Going to a new place in the world where nobody knows you and you have to do everything on your own helps build your confidence and self-esteem like nothing else.

Miami | Travel With ChristianMiami | Travel With ChristianThere’s nothing that I love more than travelling, except maybe travelling with close friends! This year has definitely been one for the books. It’s the year that I’ve taken the most risks, rediscovered myself as a single person, and felt the most pressure to make things happen for me professionally! That being said, at the end of last month it was time to put away my laptop and unwind for a few days. My friends, Shayna and Vanessa who have both been working uber hard thought that it would be dope to go on a mini getaway and celebrate life, explore another city and catch some sun. Miami | Travel With ChristianChosen Destination: Miami Stay: Thompson Miami Beach  Our Go-to’s: Soho House, Lincoln Road, Bodega South Beach  Breakfast: La Provence Dinner: Cecconi’s Miami Nightlife: LIV on Sunday (obviously)!

The thing that I love about Miami is that it’s like those ‘Choose Your Own Adventure’ books that you used to read when you were a kid. You can do ‘the most’ or as ‘little’ as you’d like and still have a great time. We opted for something in between the two extremes and legit, never had a dull moment! If you’re looking for a quick getaway, I’d move Miami up to the top of your list.

Razon Eyewear | Spotlight

Razon | Christian ConfidentialOn a recent trip to Miami I had the pleasure of meeting with Sebastian Leguizamon, one of the creators of Razon eyewear, an inspiring up-and-coming brand that is about to help push Miami’s homegrown design scene to the next level.

Sporting a refined, elegant, and almost entirely wooden form, Razon eyewear draws inspiration from Miami’s own transformative design culture.  Walking around the Wynwood Art District, Sebastian really sold us on his passion for the brand & the lifestyle he feels it represents.

Razon | Christian ConfidentialRazon | Christian Confidential Razon | Christian ConfidentialRazon | Christian ConfidentialRazon | Christian ConfidentialAlthough I could see myself taking home any of the three available colours, I must admit that I think the matte black version is in a class of its own.  And if it’s more than great style that you’re looking for, Razon has partnered with Eyejusters to help supply reading glasses to those in need – we love it when we see great brands get behind worthy causes!

Razon is set to debut their first style at Lou Lou Vie March 26th during Miami’s Winter Music Conference – if you’re lucky enough to be in town, be sure to check them out!  In the meantime, be sure to check out their official website seetherazon.com which goes live March 10th.
