NYFW: Men’s Photo Diary

@christianconfidential@christianconfidential

It’s been a little over a week since I’ve been back from New York for Men’s Week and sigh…I wish I was still there. For the last two years, I’ve made attending Men’s Week in Paris a priority but due to a scheduling conflict this season I was unable to make it out there. That being said, I had it in my mind to make it out to New York to check out the action over there and let’s just say it was a trip worth taking!

I love New York in general, so add Men’s Fashion Week into the mix and I knew that it was going to be a great time! The energy, the people, the culture, ugh..it just feeds my soul.

@christianconfidential

This time in  New York I got to stay in the financial district at The Four Seasons hotel (it’s stunning and the service was on point). I attended a couple shows + presentations, some after parties and events, did some shopping, some fine dining and tried out a few fitness classes.

One of the major highlights for me this trip was attending the Bally x Swizz Beatz party at Public. It was literally a mash up of two of my favourite things, fashion and music! Everyone was dressed well, the vibe was on another level and ASAP ROCKY (pictured above) ended up taking the stage for a quick set!

That same night, my friend Jay and I ended up heading over to 1OAK  and 2 Chainz performed as well. Honestly the nightlife in New York is just crazy and you all know, I love me a good party, especially when I’m away haha!

This trip to New York was a complete reassurance to me that I’m on the right path to figuring out my purpose. I may not know exactly what it is as of yet but I know that it’s going to involve fashion, fitness travel and connecting with people. It’s what makes me feel alive and where I feel the most inspired and connected. Thank you for everything New York, I’ll definitely be back soon!

As always, I took some photos along the way for you guys – I hope you enjoy them and thank YOU guys for continuing to explore this thing called life with me!

Ps. I visited Barry’s Bootcamp for the first time and let’s just say it was hands down one of the best work out classes that I’ve taken. If you’re looking for something that’ll challenge you, this is a must try! For those of you that live in Toronto, Barry’s is opening up there first location later this year – I can’t wait!

NYFW 17 Photo Diary

christian confidential | NYFW 17New York Fashion Week… (sigh) where do I even begin? I told you guys that I was originally set to be in New York for a cool project that I was filming that coincided with Fashion Week (Women’s). I decided to extend my stay in the city to explore, shop and see a few more shows + presentations. I’ve only been to Fashion Week in New York once before which was a lot of fun but this time around the whole experience was kicked up to another level.

One thing that I’ve learned when it comes to  traveling + work is that, it’s so important to have a great team with you and good friends (Shayna, Sean, Jay + Vanessa) – it really makes the experience so much better! From attending shows, to shooting street style, to presentations + appointments, late dinners to the after parties… there was never a dull moment.

As always, I had my camera with me + iPhone 7 (the camera changed my life, review coming shortly) documenting as much of my time away as I could. Keep scrolling down to see some of my favourite moments.

Christian

Shows + Presentations included in this post:

Club Monaco, Lacoste, Nina Tiari, J.Crew, Vivienne Tam, Chanel

Chasing Dreams

christian confidential | christian thompsonOne of the things that I love most about having a blog is being able to look back at photos (old or recent) and relive the moments all over again! I’m currently laying in bed while I write this post and I’m remembering how cold it was last week in New York and the lengths that we went through to get a few of these shots. Contrary to what you see in these photos, there was so much snow around and my photographer and I managed to find this little corner near our hotel, to shoot this look before we headed to Club Monaco‘s presentation for NYFW.  The hustle and bustle of this city even in the boroughs (Upper West Side) is so real, it just gets you in the zone of thinking you can accomplish anything. It’s really crazy because even though I was out there working, I swear I was having the best time. If this trip has taught me anything in life, it’s that sometimes you just have to take life into your own hands. If you’re passionate about something, don’t just follow it, chase it down! When you do, the Universe will work with you to make things happen.

As I’ve mentioned before I’ve been pretty committed to my street wear aesthetic and post was no exception. This look is to the point with some edge aka the perfect combo for the streets of New York.

Hi guys, so I’m finally back from a whirlwind of a week in New York. I’m currently working on a new project that coincidentally started filming during NYFW, which made this experience way cooler but a little more stressful haha! I can’t wait until I’m able to share more details about this project but just to give you guys a little heads up you’ll be getting to see me in a totally different light than you may be used to!

That being said, let’s get into this sh-look  that I put together for the Lacoste FW17 runway show. This look was totally inspired by a previous outfit that I wore during Men’s Fashion Week in Paris last month. I was so in love with the effect that the pop of red gave in that look that I had to get the same serrated jacket in blue. The Lacoste show took place pretty early on a saturday morning so this was the perfect cozy yet stylish look for me to wear. I hope you guys are into it!

September in New York

christian confidential | new yorkChristian Confidential | NYCNew York  – the city that never sleeps… isn’t that the truth! About two weeks ago, I came back from my first  NYFW experience – which was L-I-T! New York is a lot of fun anytime of the year but add in the chaos that is Fashion Week and everything is brought to another level! From attending shows, to meetings with brands, to the after parties, there was barely any time to sleep (thank God for eye cream haha).  I spent a lot of time in Soho, which has become my new favourite day time hang out (sorry Park Ave) and the Meatpacking district at night… Le Bain anyone? I put together a list of places that I’d recommend checking out, the next time you’re in New York & snapped a few pics to share with you guys!

To Eat: Mr. Chow –  for the food , Tao – for the atmosphere , Jack’s Wife Freda – for brunch, Freds Madison Avenue – a quick bite + drink post shopping!

To Lounge:  NOMO SohoI love everything about this place, I always have the best time there! Le Bain – They have a jacuzzi by the dance floor  that people ACTUALLY use and the view from their rooftop is vibes!

To Party: Electric Room,  Up & Down,  The Box – it might be a lot for some people but it’s so much fun!

To Shop:  Barney’s - retail heaven, Nike Lab – for my swoosh obsessed folks, Opening Ceremony – If you’re street style obsessed, this is a must!

Originals in New York

Christian Confidential | Adidas Canada If there’s anything that I love, it’s the release of a dope sneaker! As part of my collaboration series with Adidas Originals, the Adidas EQT Support ADV’s were a drop that I was really excited for. Taking inspiration from the past and revamping the look with a primeknit upper, these kicks are a total win. When it came to styling my outfit, I opted to keep it simple and have the sneakers be my statement piece. Clean, minimal, with a futuristic flair, you can’t go wrong with having these in your closet!

My buddy Sean from Tin Mantra Motion Pictures and I shot a little fashion video featuring some of my favourite pieces at the moment all styled with the EQT’s. Check it out below and let me know what you think! Ps. they’re also available in an all white & all black colourway that can be found on adidas.ca.

It’s All Good In Soho

christian confidential | soho nycIt’s been a while since I’ve last been in New York and oh gosh, I really did miss it! It’s weird because New York never really comes to mind as a travel destination for me (I’m more of a beach guy) but every time I make it back out here, I’m always happy that I did. This is definitely less of a pleasure trip, as it’s Fashion Week here but it’s important to make a little time for play right??  Yesterday, I spent most of the day in Soho and shot this cozy look. It’s totally me right now, oversized, casual & comfy! I hope you’re into it as much as I am!

New York City w/ Adidas Originals

Processed with VSCOcam with hb1 presetA few weeks ago, I had the opportunity to head out to New York City for the global launch of the NMD sneakers by Adidas Originals. Two days in Soho, learning about kicks, a party and having free time to explore my surroundings sounds like the perfect Break From Toronto,to me. New York City | Christian ConfidentialNew York is that magical city where no matter how many times you visit there will always be something new to discover. The NMD shoe was inspired by street culture and New York was the perfect place to launch it. Whenever I search for street style inspiration the first two places that come to mind are New York and Paris. The NMD was designed for the the wanderer, the urban traveler, someone that appreciates the old but is always looking for what’s next. I don’t know about you but it sounds like these sneakers were made for our generation. This is the first release from the NMD series and from the looks of it, things are about to get real LIT. Check out some of my favourite snaps and a few of my recommendations next time you’re visiting Soho.
