So… I’m going back to the beginning of October to share with you guys, some of the looks that I shot in Paris during Women’s Week! I featured this look on @christianconfidential and a lot of you guys seemed to really like it! This look incorporates a few of my favourite trends at the moment; military prints, and bomber jackets. Usually, when I wear a piece with a print I tend to pair it with more subtle colours to tone the look down but this time I wanted to try something different. I paired these army print trousers with a burgundy hoodie and bomber jacket with hi-top sneakers. For me, this is a pretty bold look but it worked for the occasion and overall vibe that I was going for that week! I wore this outfit during the day to attend a few fashion week presentations followed by a lunch date with some friends in central Paris. I would describe this look as stylish, comfortable, and edgy aka my vibe!
Since I started Christian Confidential (which seems like forever ago), my life has changed in so many ways. I’ve been very fortunate to have been able to work on some really cool projects, travel to places that I’ve only dreamed of and build some really great friendships along the way. That being said, when you’re running your own business it’s very easy to get caught up in all of the day-to-day tasks that you never really get a chance to ‘clock out’ from work. Over time, I’ve learned that this type of living is not sustainable and sooner than later you’ll end up burning out. It’s a tricky balance to try and grasp, especially if you’re a control freak (ahem meeee) and want to be involved in everything!
Three years ago, I spent a few months abroad living in Paris and really took a liking to their ‘way of living’. My favourite day of the week out there always happened to be Sunday. The energy of the city was different, there was a very ‘laid back’, ‘do things on your own time’ type of vibe that I loved. Since being back in Toronto, I’ve attempted to integrate that same ‘way of living’ as much as I can into my own life. Sunday is the one day for me, where I can wake up late (guilt-free) and put no real pressure on myself to complete things.
My friends over at Merchant Sons, a new home decor retailer based out of Toronto, Canada asked me to describe what the ‘perfect Sunday‘ looks like to me and instead of just telling them, I decided to take them along with me (and you guys, of course).
Like I mentioned earlier, on Sunday I do as little or as much as I want. I may stay in bed until 11:00am and watch the latest release on Netflix (Chewing Gum, anyone?) or flip through magazines. I may go to the gym or I may go for a run through the city. I might meet up with the boys and grab brunch or an early dinner, or I might go catch a movie on my own.
For me, Sunday’s are about things being easy, which is also what I love about Merchant Sons. They create practical things that we all use on a regular basis with a mantra in mind of making life easier. Whether it’s cozy bedding sets, scented candles, blankets or pillows they’re all made to look great, provide comfort and support your lifestyle!
In collaboration with Merchant Sons, my team and I put together a little video + photos, giving you guys a glimpse into what a typical Sunday can look like for me. The main message that I want you guys to take away from this post is to always make time for yourself. As important as it is to work hard to achieve and attain the things that you want it’s just as important to recharge, reflect and relax.
Hey guys, so I’m still in the middle of going through all of my stuff from Men’s Fashion Week in Paris but I thought I’d share my top 5 looks from the AVOC Paris show with you guys! I’m really into the futuristic wave that the brand is on at the moment. I’ve attended their show for the last three season and I must say that F/W17 is definitely my favourite thus far. I love the primary colour palette they decided to use and the gender neutral pieces they’ve created, it’s totally my vibe. Peep below to see the full round up (photos are in no particular order).
Hi guys, so the other day I got the chance to check out the brand Rochas, first ever menswear collection at their office in Paris. Clean, minimal, comfortable along with silhouettes that compliment the wearer, are key words used to describe this collection. That being said, those are also the key words I use to describe my style (aka, I was really into it)! I snapped a few pics to share with you guys, so you check them out below :).
PS. are you as obsessed with the oversized silver/grey jacket as I am? The design + stitching on the pockets give it that extra flare, I couldn’t get over it – it’s also going to be available in two additional colorways!
Last season during Paris Fashion Week I went for a total euro-vibe but this time around I wanted to do something a little more street. For the shows and presentations, I’ve been styling my outfits with more colour, oversized pieces and a little more edge. Today, I decided to go for something a little more casual and on the retro side. I’m totally obsessed with this look and I hope that you guys like it too!
Even though it’s super cold over here, the energy around the city is so lit and I’m having the best time! I’m off to grab a bite at Hôtel Costes and see where the night takes me (hopefully, I’ll have a story for you tomorrow)!
Three weeks into 2017 and I’m in Paris for Men’s Fashion Week – I really can’t complain! I absolutely love this city, it’s edge and style just completely moves me. I’m not sure if you noticed but recently, I decided to go BLONDE! I’ve wanted to try this for a while now and finally just said fuck it, lets just do it! I had to find the right outfit to debut it and I think this whole look came together perfectly! I decided to pair my new red serrated jacket with a comfy oversized sweatshirt, a pair of wide leg joggers, some high knee socks and some fresh X_PLR’s to complete the look. I hope that you guys are into it as much as I am! Now let’s see how much trouble I can get into over here haha!
Don’t mind the title of this post, I’ve been listening to way too much rap these days haha! I’m really into this look and I hope that you guys are too! I got these pants from Publish Brand a while ago and wanted to find the perfect outfit to break them in with. I decided to pair them with a leather jacket, a black tank & some white sneakers. I don’t think I’ve ever tried wearing burnt orange before but I don’t think I’ll shy away from it anymore!
This right here, that’s my shit! Is it just me or don’t you find that your best outfits are created when you don’t try? I love this look and it’s so me right now – minimal, monochromatic, comfortable and stylish. This t-shirt was a recent purchase from Colette (a MUST visit when you’re in Paris) by a brand called, Les Artists. I decided to pair it with classic Adidas track pants, hi-socks and a pair of all white sneakers. I hope you guys like it!
One of the main things that I love about having my blog is the ability to look back at some of the milestones or experiences that I’ve had in life thus far. As I’m sure you guys have noticed, I take a more personal approach to the content that I create – treating each blog post more of like an online journal entry. Coming close to the end of my content from Paris, I wanted to share with you guys something that I’ve been practising for quite some time now when it comes to how I live my life.
If there’s anything that I’ve learned over the last few years, is that nothing in life is guaranteed. 5 years ago, I was a recent college graduate, fell in love for the first time and had a clear picture of what my future would look like both personally and professionally. As the years went by, the same “clear picture” of my what future would look like became less clear, until it wasn’t visible at all. I wasn’t doing anything with my education, I broke up with my first love, and I felt lost in every way possible.
*** side note *** I’m a gemini so I feel things more than most people. My highs are the highest and my lows are the lowest (trust me… I wish I was being dramatic).
Fast forward to the present day, I use the knowledge that I learned from college regularly, I get to do what I love on a daily basis and have found a more positive perspective on life than I ever thought possible… how? – Gratitude!
Gratitude -the quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness.
Instead of focusing on the negatives that were happening in my life, I started honing in on the positives. Every morning I would wake up and say out loud 5 things that I was thankful for (health, a roof over my head, new underwear, 5 extra minutes of sleep – you name it. It suddenly made me more appreciative of everything that I had in my life, which helped me attract even more! One of my best friends/photographer Shayna and I were having a heart to heart, on one of our last nights in Paris. At one point we looked at each other and said damn, we’re having a moment, while drinking wine on a terrace in Paris – the universe is good! We’re both not necessarily where we want to be in life, and life might not be what we initially pictured it to be but we’re on the right path and for that, we’re thankful! I truly believe that acknowledging the blessings that come into your life (big or small) and being optimistic in unfavourable situations will always lead you to a brighter outcome!
Thank you guys for reading – this was a long one for me!
