So… if you know me well, you know that I’m very indecisive when it comes to celebrating my birthday. Some times, I want a big party, some times I want to be alone, some times I need to travel and some times I want to be at home (very rarely though). Last year, a few close friends and I jetted off to Miami for a very w-i-l-d celebration and honestly it was exactly what I needed. This year, all I wanted was a quiet celebration by the beach by myself or with a friend or two.
June is always such a busy month for me (fashion week, music festivals and pride) that it usually makes it difficult to get time off to celebrate my birthday. That being said, I knew I wanted warm weather, a beach view and champagne and I was determined to make that happen. My close friend Shayna and I decided that since we only had three days to spare, Miami would make for the perfect backdrop.
We found a newly opened hotel in Bal Harbour that we wanted to try out (Grand Beach), and made it our home base. I love travelling with Shayna because she gets me. She’s not needy and we can hang out together and have the best time or do our own thing without it being a big deal. We shared laughs, deep conversations, ate great food (Cecconi’s, Carpaccio, Byblos) and drank some bubbly every step of the way.
All in all, I had a great time and wouldn’t have changed a thing (except for maybe some more time)! I snapped a couple photos along the way so feel free to scroll down and take a look.
Once again I just want to say thank you again for all of the warm messages – it really does mean a lot to me!
The holiday season is officially in full swing which means the countdown to picking up something special for your loved ones is on. For me, I take shopping for presents very seriously. I always try to find ways to not only give my friends gifts that they want but that also puts a huge smile on their faces. This year I’ve teamed up with Best Buy Canada to find the best gift for one of my best friends, Shayna.
Shayna and I have been friends for as long as I can remember and have shared many memories together. This year I wanted to get her a gift that she’d not only love but something that also highlighted significant moments in our friendship. After spending some time in Best Buy, I came across this cool portable photo printer called the HP Sprocket, that I knew she’d love!
The HP Sprocket is a portable photo printer that’s super easy to use, prints images and stickers instantly and has a clean minimal design. It’s also super light in weight and allows you to print via bluetooth directly from your iPhone.
One of the things that Shayna and I love to do together is travel. I decided to print a bunch of our favourite photos from our past trips (New York, Miami, West Palm Beach, Paris) and create a photo album for her to have with the Sprocket.
The thing that I love about Best Buy , especially when it comes to holiday shopping is that you can go in looking to find a gift for one person and end up leaving with something for everyone on your list (like the new Fitbit Ionic Watch for your athletic friend)! Best Buy makes it super easy by having knowledgeable staff in each department and carrying a wide variety of electronics and premium tech gadgets!
If you’ve still got a few people to check off your list, I’d suggest making a stop at your local Best Buy store or even better you can shop online here.
Good luck guys and happy holidays!
PS. look out for a little contest on my Instagram account for chance to win a $100 gift card to Best Buy launching this weekend!
So… It’s officially been about a week since my birthday and let’s just say that I’m still thinking about how much fun it was. Every year I usually throw a big dinner or have a party of some sort but this year I wanted to do something different. I wanted to do something low-key with a small group of people and just kind of go with the flow. A few of my friends (Shayna, Jay and Vanessa) and I have been talking about how much fun it would be if we all went to Miami together one day, which spawned the idea of this birthday trip. We overpacked our carry-ons with swimsuits, workout gear and party outfits and hopped on an early morning flight to meet our good friends from New York in Miami for an unforgettable couple of days.
It’s crazy what great company, a beach, some champagne and good music can do for the soul. From start to finish, there was never a dull moment. The highlight moment for me on this trip had to be my birthday dinner at Zuma. The food was amazing, the service was great and the conversations left me feeling inspired and grateful. We spoke about personal goals, life, what we’re thankful for and what we’re looking to accomplish within the next year. Everyone was honest and so supportive of one another and to me that’s the beauty of life and great relationships.
This was one of those trips that I’ll always look back on and cherish the memories that were created. The universe works in the most craziest of ways. A week before I left on this trip, I was fighting a lot of anxiety. I felt like no matter what I was doing, I wasn’t getting ahead in certain areas of my life. Fast forward to the end of this trip, I left with a total different perspective, a more positive outlook and feeling extremely blessed and grateful. I know that I have work to do in order to accomplish what I want to do in life and I think that this year will be all about change and advancement. It’s not going to be easy, I know that there will be uncomfortable moments but I’m ready to take the plunge and see what’s out there for me!
I want to say a huge thank you to everyone that sent there wishes on or around my birthday – it truly does mean a lot! Thank you to my friends that made this trip what it was, thank you for just being you and allowing me to be the crazy person that I am haha!
As always, I snapped some photos along the way. I hope you guys enjoy these travel post, I’ll be back with some style post later this week!

New York Fashion Week… (sigh) where do I even begin? I told you guys that I was originally set to be in New York for a cool project that I was filming that coincided with Fashion Week (Women’s). I decided to extend my stay in the city to explore, shop and see a few more shows + presentations. I’ve only been to Fashion Week in New York once before which was a lot of fun but this time around the whole experience was kicked up to another level.
One thing that I’ve learned when it comes to traveling + work is that, it’s so important to have a great team with you and good friends (Shayna, Sean, Jay + Vanessa) – it really makes the experience so much better! From attending shows, to shooting street style, to presentations + appointments, late dinners to the after parties… there was never a dull moment.
As always, I had my camera with me + iPhone 7 (the camera changed my life, review coming shortly) documenting as much of my time away as I could. Keep scrolling down to see some of my favourite moments.
Shows + Presentations included in this post:
Club Monaco, Lacoste, Nina Tiari, J.Crew, Vivienne Tam, Chanel
This past weekend I got the chance to have some much needed fun and do something that I’ve never done before… attend a music festival. I know, isn’t it crazy that I’ve never been to one before? My friends over at Express extended the invitation to attend VELD Music Festival and without hesitation I was up for giving it a try and I’m glad that I did! I brought my friends Shayna and Allison to experience it with me and we had so much fun – highlights Steve Aoki & Post Malone! Keep scrolling to see some more pics and find out what I decided to wear!

One of the main things that I love about having my blog is the ability to look back at some of the milestones or experiences that I’ve had in life thus far. As I’m sure you guys have noticed, I take a more personal approach to the content that I create – treating each blog post more of like an online journal entry. Coming close to the end of my content from Paris, I wanted to share with you guys something that I’ve been practising for quite some time now when it comes to how I live my life.
If there’s anything that I’ve learned over the last few years, is that nothing in life is guaranteed. 5 years ago, I was a recent college graduate, fell in love for the first time and had a clear picture of what my future would look like both personally and professionally. As the years went by, the same “clear picture” of my what future would look like became less clear, until it wasn’t visible at all. I wasn’t doing anything with my education, I broke up with my first love, and I felt lost in every way possible.
*** side note *** I’m a gemini so I feel things more than most people. My highs are the highest and my lows are the lowest (trust me… I wish I was being dramatic).
Fast forward to the present day, I use the knowledge that I learned from college regularly, I get to do what I love on a daily basis and have found a more positive perspective on life than I ever thought possible… how? – Gratitude!
Gratitude -the quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness.
Instead of focusing on the negatives that were happening in my life, I started honing in on the positives. Every morning I would wake up and say out loud 5 things that I was thankful for (health, a roof over my head, new underwear, 5 extra minutes of sleep – you name it. It suddenly made me more appreciative of everything that I had in my life, which helped me attract even more! One of my best friends/photographer Shayna and I were having a heart to heart, on one of our last nights in Paris. At one point we looked at each other and said damn, we’re having a moment, while drinking wine on a terrace in Paris – the universe is good! We’re both not necessarily where we want to be in life, and life might not be what we initially pictured it to be but we’re on the right path and for that, we’re thankful! I truly believe that acknowledging the blessings that come into your life (big or small) and being optimistic in unfavourable situations will always lead you to a brighter outcome!
Thank you guys for reading – this was a long one for me!
Two weeks ago, I had the pleasure of collaborating on a cool men’s training initiative with Adidas Canada. If you’ve been following my blog for a while you already know how much of an integral role fitness plays in my lifestyle. I’m very competitive when it comes to sports and working out (blame it on the countless years of running track and playing football) – so when it comes to the type of workout gear that I wear, I want it to be the best. Recently, I was introduced to a new pair of men’s training shoes by Adidas called the Pure Boost ZG‘s and I’m not going to lie, they’re pretty bad ass! They’ve got just the right amount of boost technology to keep you feeling light on your feet and stable enough to react to quick movements.
I invited a few of my boys to come out and put these kicks to the test during a high intensity training session. My personal trainer, Adam Reynolds and co-founder of Catalyst Health curated a crazy circuit for us to complete including the use of weights, medicine balls, rowing machines, Airdyne bikes, Woodway treadmills & much more! To say that this training session was a tough one is an understatement but at the end of it we were all happy that we pushed through it! In regards to the apparel and footwear, they held up to the hype that I shared with the guys before the session. To see more of what went down during the bootcamp, my team put together a little video for you to take a look at below!
Until next time,
Adam Reynolds, Kyle Mottley, Jordan Addesi, Luke Bilyk, Ish Morris, Kyle Reid, Brandon Kaplan, Steven Bole, Daniel Hundertmark, Jason Oliveira
