It’s been a whirlwind of a time, both good and bad over the last few weeks for me. I, honestly haven’t had this bad of ‘growing pains’ in a very long time. Things that used to fulfill me don’t seem to cut it anymore and finding the answer as to what I need to do differently to correct those feelings haven’t been the easiest. Sometimes I wish that life could just be as easy as getting dressed comes to me but unfortunately it’s not. Long story short, my apologies again for not being as active as I usually am on the blog but thank you guys for riding with me.
Here’s a look that I styled over the weekend that I hope that you guys like. I’m mixing some old items with a few new ones with this look. A pair of loose denim, an old light weight bomber, a basic long sleeve tee and my new Alexander Wang for Adidas Originals sneakers.
Hi guys – I hope that life has been treating you really well! Life for me (as always) has kind of been a whirlwind of ups and downs. Man, trying to figure out the next steps for your life can become so time consuming, it’s like can someone just give me the answers and I’ll make it all happen haha. In all honesty though, I’ve been working really hard on figuring out exactly what makes me happy and what are the next steps that I need to take to propel my personal life and career to the next level. I just want to live my best life in my zone of excellence moving forward.
That’s enough about my personal life right now, let’s talk about this look! Recently, I was asked to participate in a campaign for Yorkville Village (a small but cute community close to downtown Toronto). Although I don’t ‘live’ in Yorkville, it’s basically become my second home. My gym is located there (Catalyst), some of my favourite restaurants are in the area and my friends own one of the coolest boutiques there aka CNTRBND. This look is casual, light and has a rebel flair to it. You could easily catch me wearing something like this on a regular day in the area. I hope you guys like it!
One of the things that I love most about having a blog is being able to look back at photos (old or recent) and relive the moments all over again! I’m currently laying in bed while I write this post and I’m remembering how cold it was last week in New York and the lengths that we went through to get a few of these shots. Contrary to what you see in these photos, there was so much snow around and my photographer and I managed to find this little corner near our hotel, to shoot this look before we headed to Club Monaco‘s presentation for NYFW. The hustle and bustle of this city even in the boroughs (Upper West Side) is so real, it just gets you in the zone of thinking you can accomplish anything. It’s really crazy because even though I was out there working, I swear I was having the best time. If this trip has taught me anything in life, it’s that sometimes you just have to take life into your own hands. If you’re passionate about something, don’t just follow it, chase it down! When you do, the Universe will work with you to make things happen.
As I’ve mentioned before I’ve been pretty committed to my street wear aesthetic and post was no exception. This look is to the point with some edge aka the perfect combo for the streets of New York.
One of the questions that I get asked the most in regards to my blog, is usually around the subject of how do I create my content. It varies from; does a photographer follow me around all day? How much time does it take to produce content? Where do I find all of these white walls? -that question is definitely my favourite haha!
My team and I were brainstorming ideas for our latest collaboration with Adidas Canada and we decided to build the video content as a ‘making of’ clip to give my readers a glimpse into what happens behind-the-scenes. Trust me, not all projects that we work on, require a set, or have hair & make up or the best lighting but when we get the chance to shoot in a studio, this is pretty much what it tends to looks like.
I told you guys earlier in the year that I got a chance to sit down and preview what Adidas Originals had coming down the pipeline for 2016 and this specific drop of the Tubular Doom, was one of the releases that I was most excited for! There’s something about the futuristic aesthetic that the Tubular family has that really resonates with me. It could be that they’re super clean, have a minimal silhouette, are very comfortable and are usually a conversation starter a.k.a everything that I look for in my sneakers haha! – To me, these kicks are in a league of their own!
I went for a monochromatic/minimal look to compliment the shoes + the set location. I played off the sneakers with all of my looks in the video and went with an predominantly all-white outfit for the final images – which I think helped in bringing the futuristic vision that I had in my head to life.
My team and I had so much fun working on this project, so I hope that you guys like it! If you’re looking for a last minute gift idea for the fashion forward, street style obsessed guy in your life, the Tubular Doom are a good option – see more here!
If you live in Toronto, you know that it’s a big weekend in the city. Caribana weekend is full of events, parties and a huge parade that celebrates music, culture and the islands that make up the Caribbean. If you’re partaking in any of the festivities, you might want to check out these limited edition Nike Hyperfr3sh QS sneakers inspired by the carnival spirit. Launched in Canada today, 07.30.15 and available at Capsule Toronto and Livestock these are sure to be a hit. These shoes have so much bite that I decided to keep it simple but clean with a black cut off top and a pair of leather shorts.
