Followed My Heart To London

@christianconfidential

 So…where do I begin? Honestly, I’ve never had an interest in visiting London. Over the last 4 years, I’ve been to Paris at least twice a year and even stayed there for 3 months at one point and I never felt the urge to take the train over to visit London. Truthfully, I didn’t know much about the city but this year it seemed like the universe kept subtly pointing me towards London. Whether it was recommendations from friends, collaboration opportunities from UK based brands or other little signs, it’s like the city was calling my name.

So, like the Gemini that I am, I packed a suitcase and headed to London for a week. Not knowing what to expect or if I’d like it, I went there with no expectations and an open mind. I stayed in Shoreditch (east end, close to central) and made my way to the many boroughs in the city (Chelsea, Kensington, Notting Hill, Soho, Mayfair).

Honestly, I fell in love with the city and wished I could’ve extended my trip but I had a flight booked for a press trip in New York the day of my scheduled return. The best way that I can describe London is, it’s a mash up of New York meets Paris. It’s multicultural, it’s modern, it’s historic, it’s fast pace, it’s clean, it has everything you could ask for (except for shorter travel times haha).

I had a few work things that I had to get done while I was there but other than that, I spent my time exploring the city and getting a real vibe of the place. I have a few friends that live in the city and they made sure to point me in the right direction of places to go and even tagged along to some of them (Shoreditch House, The Curtain, Sketch, Harrods, Barry’s Bootcamp, White City House, LPM, Sexy Fish).

This trip was a little different for me, I really tried to stay in the moment as much as I could and therefore didn’t take too many photos or create much content. That being said, Scroll down below to take a look at some of the moments that I did capture and hopefully you can get a bit of a vibe of my stay.

I’ll be back a lot sooner than expected but I’ll save more of those details for a later post.

Celebrations In Miami

@christianconfidentialHello friends, did you miss me?!  I really have to get better at these frequent updates, it’s nuts and not cool.. sigh.

On another note, I was in Miami earlier this week celebrating one of my best friends birthdays and I’ve got a little travel diary for you guys. I really enjoy taking lifestyle pictures and just capturing the moments when they’re happening and although this trip was short there were plenty of memories created!

Anytime Zineb, Kenza and I are together, it’s always full of inside jokes and fun. I’ve known them both for about 10 years now, so when Zineb said she wanted to celebrate her birthday in Miami, I was all the way in! Most of the trip we spent our time eating great food ( Prime Italian, Carpaccio, La Petite Maison), drinking champagne + wine, laying out by the plunge pool (The Edition)  and doing some retail therapy ( Bal Harbour).

Miami literally feels like a second home to me now but I swear every time I visit, I discover  somewhere new. This time it was the restaurant La Petite Maison.. OMG, the food was so good! Zineb and her fiancé Daniel (aka my tequila shot brother) always gush about this restaurant in Dubai and insisted that we go to their Miami location for her birthday dinner.  If you’re into French cuisine and love a great cocktail, the next time you’re in Miami, you have to try it!

If you’re following me on Instagram (@christianconfidential) and watched my stories, you know that I was obsessing over a specific pair of Balenciaga Speed Trainers. I’ve actually wanted a pair for a while now and every time I went to purchase them they never had my size in the colour way that I wanted. Well, on our second trip to Bal Harbour (yes, second haha), I decided to ask about their latest drop of the Speed Trainers  and not only did they have my size, once I tried them on I knew I had to get them (sigh…). I can’t wait to show you guys how I style them!

That being said, scroll on down and check out these images that I captured on the trip. I also promise that I’ll be back sooner than later with some more style content for you guys.

xoxo

Birthday Behaviour

@christianconfidential

So… if you know me well, you know that I’m very indecisive when it comes to celebrating my birthday. Some times, I want a big party, some times I want to be alone, some times I need to travel and some times I want to be at home (very rarely though). Last year, a few close friends and I jetted off to Miami for a very w-i-l-d celebration and honestly it was exactly what I needed. This year, all I wanted was a quiet celebration by the beach by myself or with a friend or two.

June is always such a busy month for me (fashion week, music festivals and pride) that it usually makes it difficult to get time off to celebrate my birthday. That being said, I knew I wanted warm weather, a beach view and champagne and I was determined to make that happen. My close friend Shayna and I decided that since we only had three days to spare, Miami would make for the perfect backdrop.

We found a newly opened hotel in Bal Harbour that we wanted to try out (Grand Beach), and made it our home base. I love travelling with Shayna because she gets me. She’s not needy and we can hang out together and have the best time or do our own thing without it being a big deal. We shared laughs, deep conversations, ate great food (Cecconi’s, Carpaccio, Byblos) and drank some bubbly every step of the way.

All in all, I had a great time and wouldn’t have changed a thing (except for maybe some more time)! I snapped a couple photos along the way so feel free to scroll down and take a look.

Once again I just want to say thank you again for all of the warm messages – it really does mean a lot to me!

Santa Monica: Photo Diary

@christianconfidential @christianconfidential

 Hi guys, so I’m currently in California for the first time (I can’t believe its taken me this long to come out here) and I’m in love! Yesterday, one of my favourite people Mindy and I headed to Santa Monica to do some exploring! We did a lot of walking (which a lot of people don’t like to do out here haha), ate some good food, sipped on nice wine and ended the day at the Santa Monica Pier. There’s something about the water that just always leaves me feeling recharged and capable of doing anything! I’m going to keep this post short just because I’m still here and I have to get ready for dinner but in the meantime, I snapped a few photos along the way for you guys. Believe it or not, this was all shot on my iPhone – ayyyy!

Home Sweet Home with Marriott

@christianconfidential@christianconfidentialProcessed with VSCO with j2 preset

So, I’m not sure how many of you guys know this but I’m originally born and raised in Ottawa, Ontario. If you’re not familiar with the city, it’s the capital of Canada aka where John Trudeau lives! I don’t get to go back that often (usually just for Christmas + Thanksgiving) but every time I do, I always have a blast! Ottawa still has that small city charm to it where the hustle and bustle isn’t quite like Toronto but definitely has its share of great gems and a cozy vibe to it.

In celebration of Canada’s 150th, my friends over at Marriott Hotels asked me to share with them  (and you guys) my favourite things to do and visit while in my hometown.

If I’m not staying at my family home (which is in Orleans), the best place to be situated in the city, is downtown. Finding a hotel in the downtown core is definitely the best way to see and explore the best of what this city has to offer. My best friend and I stayed in a beautiful suite at The Westin hotel ( see previous post for a hotel tour). We had the easiest check-in possible, dropped our luggage off, let our family know that we landed safely and got straight to exploring!@christianconfidential

Being that we’re both from this city, we already had a pretty good idea of what we wanted to check out! First stop, lunch at Andaz (which has a beautiful rooftop patio and view of the city). It’s the perfect location to unwind and catch up with  good friends over food and cocktails.

Second stop, the  Byward Market. The Byward Market is a must visit if it’s your first time visiting Ottawa. It’s the home of cool one of a kind shops, trendy cafe’s and nightlife.

Back to the hotel to recharge before our dinner reservations and a night on the town, starting with one of my favourite spots, The Social.@christianconfidential@christianconfidential@christianconfidential

Day two – We woke up pretty early on our second day in Ottawa, ready to see and do more stuff. We had breakfast at our hotel, visited the spa and got ready to check out the National Art Gallery. I’m a lover of the arts and the gallery was definitely a highlight of our trip for me.@christianconfidential

We later on grabbed a nice lunch at a new spot called Riviera in the financial district. If you’re looking for a place that’s elegant and on trend I’d recommend  checking them out!

@christianconfidential@christianconfidential@christianconfidentialNow if you guys know me, you know that I can’t visit any city (even if it’s my hometown) and not do a little bit of shopping. If you come to Ottawa everyone will tell you to visit Rideau Centre or Bayshore which both houses great stores. But If you’re like me and looking for more street style, athletic apparel or luxury, I’d suggest checking out Nordstrom, Urban Outfitters, NRML and Common Concept.

After a long day, we headed back to our hotel to just hang out before dinner at Spin Kitchen + Bar and got some exciting news that we’d be attending The Weekend concert! I’ve seen him perform in Toronto, at a much smaller show and it was great, so I was definitely hyped to see him perform in my hometown at the Canadian Tire Centre.

Honestly, this trip back home was such a great time, filled with great moments. Canada as a whole is full of beautiful locations to visit but if you do get a chance to check out my hometown, you should jump on it! It’s that perfect getaway that’ll leave you with fun memories and give you the chance to just relax.@christianconfidential

Actually, remember the contest I told you guys about that Marriott is hosting in celebration of Canada 150? It’s still going on and you should enter for a chance to potentially visit Ottawa or other cool cities in Canada. All you have to do to enter is visit Marriott Canada or SPG Canada. There will be a total of 5 contest winners from Canada and the United States, 3 of which will win ‘epic’ adventures at Marriott Canada locations and 2 will win ‘epic’ adventures at Starwood Canada locations. What’s included in these ‘epic’ adventures?  Flight and accommodations for the contest winner and a guest, $1000.00 CAD spending money and a complimentary experience/activity.

Good luck guys!

My Stay At The Westin

@christianconfidential

Hi guys, I’m back on the blog today to share a cool travel post and contest that I’ve partnered on with Marriott International in celebration of Canada’s big 150! Marriott International decided to team up with a few canadian bloggers and have them visit various cities across the country to explore and take in some of Canada’s most known and hidden gems. For me, coincidentally, I was asked to visit Ottawa, which is actually my hometown so I was more than happy to participate. I’ll be sharing more about my favourite places to visit and things to do in a later post but for now I’ll be giving you guys a glimpse into my stay at The Westin (a hotel apart of the Marriott International family), and giving you guys the details on how you can potentially stay here as well by entering Marriott’s Epic Canada Adventure Sweepstake!

@christianconfidential

Whenever I’m looking for a hotel to stay at in a new city, I always pay close attention to the location. Is it central, is it easy to get to, is it safe, are there good restaurants close by etc.. If you’re like me, then the Westin is perfect for you. It’s centrally located, easy to catch a cab, tons of tourist attractions nearby and has good restaurants (The Shore Club is located inside the hotel) and shopping literally steps away (Nordstrom anyone?!).

When designing my experience at the Westin, I wanted to make sure that I got to experience the best that they had to offer. I ended up staying in a beautiful Junior Suite that had floor to ceiling windows aka a lot of natural light and the perfect view of the Parliament. The Westin hotel is all about making sure their guests move, feel, work and play well. Whether you’re looking for healthy food options, spa services, dinner recommendations (the concierge staff was so helpful), a proper gym (they have two and a pool), or comfortable meeting space, the Westin has it all covered! Additional perks of staying at this hotel, is that they have a run club that guests are encouraged to participate in and car service (sponsored by Cadillac) that you can have access to when booking certain suites.

@christianconfidential@christianconfidential

Now, let’s talk about this contest – Marriott’s Epic Canada Adventure Sweepstakes! The contest launches today (June, 22nd) and will be open for four weeks.

I’ll be crossing my fingers for you guys, good luck!

West Palm Beach

christian thompson | christian confidentialchristian thompson | christian confidentialWest Palm Beach, where do I begin? Let’s just say that it’s getting super cold in Toronto and if anyone even mentions to me that we should “go on a trip” to somewhere warm, I’m pretty much in! My best friend had a few days off of work and I happened to be free so we booked an impromptu trip to West Palm Beach. We had no idea what to expect, other than warm weather + a beach and to be honest that was good enough for me. West Palm is located in Florida and happens to be one of the healthiest places within the United States – crazy right?! We stayed at The Kimpton Tideline Ocean Resort which is located right off the beach and neighbours to the Four Seasons.

 If you’re looking for a place to go and really have some quality time to yourself or with a special someone, West Palm Beach is a great option. Our day schedule consisted of working out, lounging by the beach and sipping on prosecco. At night we ventured out and socialized with the locals. One of the restaurants I fell in love with was Bucaan - their Sweet Corn Agnolotti pasta is a must try, so good! If you’re looking for nightlife action, everyone pretty much hangs out downtown in Delray Beach. This area is filled with restaurants and bars, one that I really liked was El Camino.

As always, I took a few pictures during my stay for you guys to check out – I hope you guys like them!

Vintage Feels In Vegas

christian confidential | christian thompson

If you’re following me on social media, you know that I’m currently in Las Vegas having the craziest time with Expedia.CA! I honestly can’t stress to you guys how important it is to travel and see as many places as you can! Vegas was never a high priority for me to visit but after playing around with the new Vegas You landing page and being here for the last three days, I’m really happy that the universe brought me here. Now back to this style post, this look came together as a complete accident but I’m totally feeling it! The whole look is vintage (minus the sneakers)  and giving off a complete west coast vibe – which is so appropriate! As much as I love my casual look, can we take a moment to discuss the background… so clutch!  I hope you guys are well and I’ll be back to share more of my discoveries later!

Tobago with Fashion Vanguard

Fashion Vanguard | Christian ConfidentialFashion Vanguard | Christian ConfidentialIt’s December 1st and as I sit down and write this travel post, I must say that the last half of this year has truly been a blessed one. One of the things that I love about being a blogger is that it opens doors to opportunities that can sometimes be life changing. Last month I got the opportunity to travel to the island of Tobago and learn a little bit about their lifestyle and fashion.

The great people at Fashion Vanguard invited us down to check out their inaugural fashion buyers exhibition. This exhibition showcased 9 reputable designers with roots from the island.

I, of course had my favourites and gravitated towards more of your staples/essentials from a brand titled I Say U Clothing. It’s cool to see what works in regards to fashion in other parts of the world and it’s even cooler to see the influence of different cultures reflected in the garments. Fashion Vanguard | Christian ConfidentialFashion Vanguard | Christian ConfidentialLinen (for it’s breathability, I’m sure) was a common fabric used throughout a lot of the featured designers especially the menswear line, Millhouse. Beautiful weather, friendly people and great food (I tried shark for the first time), I’m not really sure what else I could’ve asked for. We spent some time at  Pigeon Point beach, partied at the infamous ‘Shade’ nightclub and relaxed by the pool at our villa. All in all, this was a great experience and Tobago is filled with hidden gems and treasure both in fashion and lifestyle. If you’re looking for a destination to unwind and reflect, Tobago is a destination to consider. A special thank you to everyone that made our stay what it was especially; Jamilia, Karen, Kery & Kevon.

Until next time,
