If there’s one thing torontonians don’t take for granted, it’s summer! Whether it’s soaking up the sun by a pool, running along Lakeshore or hanging out on a patio, trust me we’re all over it! The other day, my friend Jaime and I met up for lunch to catch up on life and decided to check out Colette Grand Café. Colette’s been a go-to for me for a while now and honestly, I can’t see it changing anytime soon! I’ve been obsessed with sea food recently (more than usual) so oysters were a must along with the Poulet Á La Créole & a few cocktails. Check out some images I snapped below of our hang out! Thanks Colette as always for the great hospitality!
I’ve been itching to try out a new cocktail especially after the amazing weather we’ve had over the last few days in the city. I love having my friends over and seeing that summer is right around the corner I’ve been looking for a new refreshing, yet simple-ish cocktail to try. In celebration of Cinco de Mayo, my friends over at Casamigos sent over a cool package to test out their rendition of a Tequila Watermelon Margarita. Not too sweet and super refreshing, it makes for the perfect summer cocktail. Below, I’ve included directions and ingredients to D-I-Y (do it yourself)!Ingredients/Measurements: 1/2 part simple syrup | 1 1/2 parts Casamigos Reposado Tequila | 3/4 parts fresh lime juice | 4 parts muddled watermelon | 6-7 mint leavesDirections: Muddle mint leaves & watermelon into a shaker. – Add remaining ingredients to the shaker ( simple syrup, tequila, fresh lime juice). Shake and fine strain over fresh ice in a rocks glass. Use a lime wheel or wedge along with extra mint leaves to garnish. Happy Cinco de Mayo guys!
Whoever put Fall/Winter fashion week in the ‘Spring’ must have been drinking a Negroni – because they’re perfect for any season! I can’t wait to be having one of these classics poolside. Any day now, right?
Ingredients: Sweet Vermouth | Tanqueray No. 10 | Campari | Orange
Directions: Pour equal parts sweet vermouth, gin (I used Tanq 10) and Campari into a shaker with ice. Shake & strain into a rocks glass with ice and garnish with your choice of an orange peel or a swirl – it’s as easy as that!
Now that the craziness of Fashion Week is over I’m finding myself craving some at-home time with friends and loved ones. There’s nothing better than a great drink to help set you apart as the host-with-the-most! I tried this little concoction the other day & it will definitely be a fall staple this year.
Bulleit Bourbon | Grand Marnier | Bitters | Lemon | Ceres grapefruit juice | Orange
1. Fill your martini shaker with ice | 2.Pour 2 ounces of Bulleit Bourbon into the shaker | 3. Follow it up with 1 ounce of Grand Marnier | 4. Pour half an once of freshly squeezed lemon juice into the shaker | 5. Followed by half an ounce of Ceres grapefruit juice | 6. Add a couple of dashes of Bitters into the mix | 7. Shake it all up!
For this drink I used a coupe glass to take the look to the next level, but obviously any glass will do. Strain the cocktail into the glass and top it off with an orange swirl garnish.
There you have it – simple and delicious! 😉
