The Importance of Gratitude

christian confidential

One of the main things that I love about having my blog is the ability to look back at some of the milestones or experiences that I’ve had in life thus far. As I’m sure you guys have noticed, I take a more personal approach to the content that I create – treating each blog post more of like an online journal entry. Coming close to the end of my content from Paris, I wanted to share with you guys something that I’ve been practising for quite some time now when it comes to how I live my life.

If there’s anything that I’ve learned over the last few years, is that nothing in life is guaranteed. 5 years ago, I was a recent college graduate, fell in love for the first time and had a clear picture of what my future would look like both personally and professionally. As the years went by, the same “clear picture” of my what future would look like became less clear, until it wasn’t visible at all. I wasn’t doing anything with my education, I broke up with my first love, and I felt lost in every way possible.

*** side note *** I’m a gemini so I feel things more than most people. My highs are the highest and my lows are the lowest (trust me… I wish I was being dramatic).

Fast forward to the present day, I use the knowledge that I learned from college regularly, I get to do what I love on a daily basis and have found a more positive perspective on life than I ever thought possible… how? – Gratitude!

Gratitudethe quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness.

Instead of focusing on the negatives that were happening in my life, I started honing in on the positives. Every morning I would wake up and say out loud 5 things that I was thankful for (health, a roof over my head, new underwear, 5 extra minutes of sleep – you name it. It suddenly made me more appreciative of everything that I had in my life, which helped me attract even more! One of my best friends/photographer Shayna  and I were having a heart to heart, on one of our last nights in Paris. At one point we looked at each other and said damn, we’re having a moment, while drinking wine on a terrace in Paris – the universe is good! We’re both not necessarily where we want to be in life, and life might not be what we initially pictured it to be but we’re on the right path and for that, we’re thankful! I truly believe that acknowledging the blessings that come into your life (big or small) and being optimistic in unfavourable situations will always lead you to a brighter outcome!

Thank you guys for reading – this was a long one for me!

The Floral Bomber

The Floral Bomber | Christian ConfidentialAs a fashion blogger, I’m always on the lookout for new pieces and  style inspiration. The other night I was up late browsing the web and came across this floral bomber. Trust me when I say that I very rarely get overly excited about an item of clothing but when I do, I know that I need to have it immediately! To me, this bomber by Jeremy Scott for Adidas is everything! The cut, the attention to detail, the feel, it’s just so on point. As soon as I got it, I had to shoot it and share it with you guys! Being that the print is a little more delicate (floral) in comparison to what I generally wear, I decided to go a little more rugged with the rest of my outfit (loose ripped denim and boss-like kicks) but still playing with a light colour palette to compliment the jacket. This is definitely one of my favourite looks of 2015 so I hope that you guys like it!
